Wireless and Home networks

If your ISP has not provided you with a modem router, then your first step is decide on the the equipment you need. If you want wireless, you'll need an 802.11g 802.11n router such as a 3-Com, Draytek, Linksys, Netgear or Belkin. Then you need to decide how to connect to the router.

If you have a newer notebook computer it will probably already have wireless built in. If not, then you will need a wireless network adapter. For your desktop you can either connect it via an ethernet cable directly to the router, or purchase a USB wireless adaptor. A direct cable connection will always give better performance.
